Greenwood
Project type
Lounge Club, Interior Design
Date
April 2023
Location
Cupar, Fife
Using adaptive reuse principles, Greenwood is a nature-themed lounge club built in an industrial silo in Cupar, Fife. It is a combination of a lounge and a bar, allowing one to relax and drink in comfortable settings. Bringing nature indoors, the colour scheme is green, brown and grey, representing plants, wood, and rocks respectively. Hence, key materials used on the interior include oak and marble, where the marble effects reflect the look of rocks. The dark colour scheme is to mirror the vibes of nighttime in a forest, so lounging in Greenwood is like camping in a forest, but with a classy twist.
The circular booths against the wall are connected together with sloping surfaces, creating a wave effect, inspired by ‘Bluefrog Acoustic Lounge’ in Mumbai, designed by architects Kapil Gupta and Christopher Lee. The wooden panelling along the circular booths, the offices, and the cleaner’s room was inspired by ‘Niseko Lookout Café’ in Hokkaido, designed by Design Spirits - a Japanese studio.
